Virginia Beach does a pretty good job of recognizing and celebrating Earth Day every year. If you live in the area, above is the flyer for all that will be going on at Mt. Trashmore on May 3rd. It’s worth a trip up there with your kids!!! Hope that everyone made an effort today to keep lights off, etc in an effort to recognize this important day. Kaiden was real big on keeping lights off in the house tonight, Ashton pretty much did not care as long as he could keep watching Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Surfrider Foundation sent out the above email, which I thought I would share:
Earth Day: Be part of the wave of change.
Here are 5 simple things you can do:
- Conserve energy to help slow climate change. Global warming will dramatically affect our coastlines.
- Avoid using single use plastics. They often end up on our beaches and harm sea life. Instead, use refillable and reusable bottles and containers.
- Plant an ocean friendly garden. Native plants use less water, reduce runoff and help keep our beaches clean.
- Don’t hose down your driveways. It wastes water and causes oils and other pollutants to end up in the ocean. Use a broom and dustpan instead.
- Make a donation in honor of Earth Day to the Surfrider Foundation. It’s never been a better time to be part of the wave of change.
Happy Earth Day!!!
