About twenty minutes before I left work yesterday, my tummy started hurting. By the time I had picked the kids up and gotten home, I was having SEVERE stomach cramping in my lower tummy, between my belly button and the “pubic” area. So severe that I was literally sitting in the fetal position on the couch crying most of the night. Kaiden kept asking, “Do you want me to call 911 mommy?”
It hurt most of the night, but I was able to get a little bit of sleep. When I woke up, the pains were not as severe, but my stomach felt bruised, like someone had punched me like 100 times right in the gut. Well the pains are back. I am sitting at my desk and I can barely move. It feels like I should either be giving birth to something, or passing something at any time. Now, I went to Web MD and checked my symptoms and got the following diagnosis:
Bowel Obstruction
A bowel obstruction is a blockage in the intestines that prevents gas, fluids, or solids from moving through the intestines normally. Many different problems can cause a bowel obstruction, such as scar tissue from previous surgeries (adhesions), certain types of hernias, cancer, twisting of the intestines (volvulus), or diverticulitis.
Symptoms of a bowel obstruction include:
Cramping abdominal pain. The pain may affect all or part of the abdominal area and may be severe.
Nausea and vomiting.
An inability to have a bowel movement or pass gas.
Bloating.A suspected bowel obstruction needs to be evaluated by a doctor and may require medical treatment.
So, has anyone out there had this type of pain before, outside of giving birth?
