Well, I am pretty much over this damn storm.  We have had plenty of Nor’Easter’s roll through Virginia Beach - but this one might as well have been a full blown hurricane as far as I am concerned.  At least with a hurricane, it comes, does it’s damage and then moves on to the next destination.  For three days straight now, the sky has just taken a dump on us, with ZERO downtime.  The 60 to 75 MPH windgusts have been relentless.  You just cannot even count how many streets and whole areas are completely flooded, how many people are without power and how much cleanup there is going to have to be.

The Lynnhaven Fishing Pier - Collapsed - and this is on the bay side, not the ocean.

A damn barge, carrying hazardous materials is beached at Sandbridge - thank god no hazardous materials are leaking yet, but an entire HazMat crew and the Coast Guard are there on standby.

It has just sucked big time here.

It is just now finally starting to look like it is easing up outside.  It is still windy and sprinkling, but the gusts have died down to about 30 to 35 MPH and it is not pouring down rain anymore.

Spoke too soon - wind and rain is back.  Dena said she was out driving last night and it was crazy - big metal signs just blowing down the road like it was nothing.  Dena and I have no power.  We lost it yesterday and unfortunately, according to Dominion power, we will not be getting any back until at least Sunday night at 10PM.

I stayed at my parent’s house as long as I could last night (they have a huge generator to run the house during power outages), until the flood waters got so high at their house, I had to make a break for it before my car wouldn’t be able to make it.  I left the kids there and headed home so I could check on my house and my cat.  My house alarm went completely nuts at 2AM and I had to try and get that fixed in the pitch black and call ADT to figure out what the hell to do.  At 6AM I was unloading my entire fridge/freezer into bags in the dark and loading up my car in the stormy mess to try and save what food I could, so I don’t have to spend $300 to $400 replacing it all.  Dena was doing the same thing this morning.

I will spend most of the weekend at my parent’s, since they have lights and head home at night each night for my cat, until our power is restored.  So, that’s that.  I am at work, trying to get a few things done, then I am going to get out of here and go hang with my kids.

UPDATE: We have power back - Yay!
