Weekly Roundup 07/10/05-07/16/05

This was a pretty good week.  We (me and the kids) left Thursday night after I got home from work for Philadelphia.  Every year my family has a reunion up there.  It was great to go, because my Aunt Kristin and Uncle Tim are the godparents to my kids - so its always good when they get to see the kids.  Their son Jake is Kaiden’s favorite person.  She loves her Jake - so she was very excited to spend the weekend with him.  Both kids were very good for the 5 hour drive both their and back.

On the Calendar for Next Week:
Not a Damn Thing

“Excerpts From The Cat’s Daily Diary”

Day 283 Of My Captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another house plant. Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded; must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair; must try this on their bed.  I decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts.

They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was. Hmmm, not working according to plan.  There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices.  I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of “allergies.” Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.  I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit.  The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is assured.

But I can wait, it is only a matter of time. . . .

Grandma’s gettin some…

I was reading the news online and happened to stumble upon the following article:

Granny grows tired of prostitution at age 63

BERLIN (Reuters) - A Berlin grandmother who has worked the city’s diplomatic quarter as a prostitute for the last 49 years plans to retire when she turns 64 next year, according to Germany’s Bild newspaper.  Even though prostitutes were forced to leave the area after the Berlin Wall, fell because dead-end streets in the downtrodden district were re-connected to east Berlin and property values surged, Renate Dolle was allowed to stay, Bild said.

“I’ve got a lot of regular clients,” the blonde woman told the newspaper, pictured wearing a short red mini skirt and high-heeled white boots as she stood near the Japanese embassy. She said she charges 30 euros ($36) and on good nights she has four to five clients.

“I’m going to stop at 64 and retire,” said Dolle, whose husband drops her off for work each night after the television evening news and who has a nine-year-old granddaughter.

She is one of 10,000 prostitutes in Berlin and 400,000 in Germany, where prostitution is legal. Dolle said she tried to work in a popular red light district nearby recently but was chased away by younger competitors.

“What do you want here, you old whore, get lost,” Dolle said they shouted at her. “What did I ever do to them?”

I would kill to see her nightly clientele list.  And after that many years, she has only worked herself up to $36.00?

Tag, I’m it

Tagged by Chatty...

10 Years Ago:

I was

going to

struggling in school at Old Dominion University for Psychology, a far cry from what I actually ended up doing with my life (Construction Project Manager).  I was also dating the person that would end up introducing me to my husband.

5 Years ago:

I was dating my husband, working 65 hours a week to advance my career, running 5 miles a day and remember generally being very happy.

1 Year ago:

I was trying to cope with post-partum depression, while trying to learn how to live with a sick infant that cried 24 hours a day and selling my home to be able to afford the bills that came along with that child and to avoid sinking deep into debt.

Yesterday:

I was sitting on my couch in the new house sick and overdosing on DayQuil.

Today:

I am at work going through a set of construction plans for the new City of Virginia Beach Public School’s School Plant Building, so that a schedule can be built for it’s construction…and still feeling like crap!

Tomorrow:

...is another day!

5 Snacks I Enjoy:

Chips & Dip, Veggies & Dip, Cheetos, Nutter Butters, Honey Roasted Peanuts

5 Songs I know all the words to:

Way too many for listing purposes.

5 Reality TV Shows I watch:

I am not a huge fan of Reality T.V. - I usually watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition and the first week of American Idol for the laughes, and then am forced into watching the rest of American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother and Real World by my Reality T.V. junkee of a husband.

5 TV Shows I watch Daily:

Teletubbies, Barney, Dragon Tales, Clifford the Big Red Dog and the News.

5 Things I would do with $100,000,000:

Pay off all my family’s and my debts, pay off the house, hire a personal trainer, fund my own contracting company, go on vacation!

5 locations I would run away to:

Fiji, Costa Rica, Caymen Islands, Tahiti, Hawaii

5 things I like doing:

Being w/ Friends, Being w/ Family, Relaxing, Getting Pampered, Playing around on the Computer

5 things I would never wear:

Leather Pants, Stiletto Heels, Bangs, Bright Colored Face Make-Up (if its not an earthtone, I don’t wear it), Pants that are tight at the ankles

5 recently seen movies that I like:

Madagascar, Spanglish, Hitch - cannot think of anymore.

5 famous people I want to meet:

No one in particular, sorry!

5 biggest joys of the moment:

Todd, Kaiden, Ashton, 5 lbs down at WW, My Health

Now to make others think?I shall pass this to two people:

Nadine
