Ten On Tuesday-01/17/06

These are in no particular order, they are just all shows that I happen to love watching now (when time permits).  Thank god for DVR!  As you can see, I am not a huge fan of reality TV show - I have enough reality in my life, I need some comic relief!

01. The Office
This show is so damn hilarious.  I absolutely LOVE Dwight.

02. Greys Anatomy
I became hooked on this show this season and I LOVE it.  I have to DVR it every Sunday, or I dragg ass on Monday’s at work.

03. Scrubs
I have been a fan of this show since the beginning.  I really like Zach Braff.

04. Saturday Night Live
Another reason I am thankful for the DVR.  I have loved this show since I was a kid and watched it with my parents in their bed.  None of the other sketch comedy shows seem to do it as well as SNL!
Official SNL Website

05. Reno 911
This show is so damn stupid that it is hilarious to me.  Lt. Dangle is classic!

06. My Name is Earl
I have always been a HUGE fan of Jason Lee!  I was so happy when I heard he was getting a show, and it has not been a disappointment!

07. CSI
I coule watch CSI re-runs all day long.  I have liked this show for a while, but ONLY the original Vegas show, I am not a big fan of the others.

08. Desperate Housewives
I started watching this one in Season 1.  I have not been as impressed with Season 2 as I was with Season 1, but it may be looking up now.

09. Spongebob Squarepants
I listed this show because of my son.  He was sick for a long time, and is so sensitive to everything, but man, if you could see the way his face lights up when this show comes on.  He actually jumps up and down and claps.  He goes into a Spongebob trance when it is on.  Mommy gets to actually get stuff done while it is on.

10. King of Queens
Is there anyone that does not like this show?  The constant fighting and the fat jokes from Carrie?  I love it.

Can’t Do It!

My friend Dena has asked me several times to go see the movie Brokeback Mountain and I have NO desire to see this movie.  This movie is about two gay men, and I just do not think that I can sit through it.  I have NOTHING against gay men, or women for that matter.  But, for some reason, I cannot watch two gay men together.  I can watch two gay women together all day long, and on occasion, even enjoy it a little - but not two men.  I do not know why.  I think it has something to do with masculinity and the lack thereof when I see two men together kissing.  I just can’t stomach it.

Now I have had, and still have PLENTY of gay, male friends and can sit and laugh and listen to stories all day long, but I do not want to see it.  So for now, I will have to read up on the story and let others tell me what they thought of it.  Here is the storyline:

Brokeback Mountain tells the story of two young men—a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy—who meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys, and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.

Early one morning in Signal, Wyoming, Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) meet while lining up for employment with local rancher Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid). The world which Ennis and Jack have been born into is at once changing rapidly and yet scarcely evolving. Both young men seem certain of their set places in the heartland – obtaining steady work, marrying, and raising a family – and yet hunger for something beyond what they can articulate. When Aguirre dispatches them to work as sheepherders up on the majestic Brokeback Mountain, they gravitate towards camaraderie and then a deeper intimacy.

At summer’s end, the two must come down from Brokeback and part ways. Remaining in Wyoming, Ennis weds his sweetheart Alma (Michelle Williams), with whom he will have two daughters as he ekes out a living. Jack, in Texas, catches the eye of rodeo queen Lureen Newsome (Anne Hathaway). Their courtship and marriage result in a son, as well as jobs in her father’s business.

Four years pass. One day, Alma brings Ennis a postcard from Jack, who is en route to visit Wyoming. Ennis waits expectantly for his friend, and when Jack at last arrives, in just one moment it is clear that the passage of time has only strengthened the men’s attachment. In the years that follow, Ennis and Jack struggle to keep their secret bond alive. They meet up several times annually. Even when they are apart, they face the eternal questions of fidelity, commitment, and trust. Ultimately, the one constant in their lives is a force of nature – love.

I SUCK & Other Stuff!

In case you have not noticed, things have kind of SUCKED around here lately and I would like to apologize.  I have done a crappy job with updating.  Things have been so busy in my life right now, that I am just trying to keep my head above water.  Between work, sick kids and trying like hell to lose weight, I barely have time to breathe!  So I am sorry about the lack of updates and my lack of commenting over at your sites.  I will try to be better!

UPDATE: I am doing fine guys…just REALLY busy.  I am 16 pounds down and doing well on my dieting.  That is a squirt gun in the ‘ole picture up there…it’s the sick “Beast” that is the cause of my stresses this week.  Thanks for all the concern!

P.S. Please take a minute and go over and say hello to my new blog tenant.  Her name is Grace (very pretty) and her blog is titled “Life According to Princess Grace” - Gosh, a real live princess - I am liked by royalty people!!!  Doesn’t that count for something? somewhere?  Go now and “grace” her with your presence!
