It’s Boobie Time!

2008 Boobie-Thon

It’s that time of year again! Time to help in the effort to save second base! Once again this year I will be acting as the “Chief Boobie Financial Officer” by working behind the scenes of the 2008 Boobie-Thon to record all of the donations along with some other really great volunteers. I will also make my yearly donation to help Breast Cancer research and will donate a picture of my boobies for the cause to help in the attempt to get others to donate as well! The 2008 Boobie-Thon kicks off on October 1st and will run thru October 7th.

Confused? New to this? Let me explain… Tons of bloggers from all over the internet will anonymously donate both covered and uncovered photos of their boobies. Some will be photographed “au naturale” and others will be dressed up, painted and prettied up in various different ways. You are invited to visit the website that Mel has worked so hard on and view the “covered” galleries. If you make a donation of $50 or more to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and email us the donation confirmation, we will email you a private link and login information to see the “uncovered” galleries! What could be better than that? You make a donation to a great cause and you get to see boobies!

Here is the the info from the website:

Seven years of tradition has the blogger community sharing, and baring, their chests for the best reason they can think of - fighting cancer.

That’s right, the racks are back Oct. 1-7 and they’re committed to raising more than $10,000 in one week by unveiling Mother Nature’s greatest gifts. That’s right, we’re saying it, BOOBIES.

“I love the idea,” says Melissa Connolly, 2008 coordinator, “If someone’s going to ogle my goods, they can at least make a donation to save boobies and lives!”

No one ever said that blogger were afraid of expressing their opinions or sharing their ideas. Those are the very catalysts that make blogs the influential medium they are today. So when a joke between friends turned into an empowering fundraiser and awareness-raiser blogger nationwide signed on. And they’re saddling up again for another wild ride in 2008.

In an effort to gain donations for breast cancer research, hundreds of women and men are donating images of their chests for oglers world-wide to check out. Generous donor blogger are seriously strutting their creativity in both the clothed and bared arena on boobiethon.com.

Shall we repeat that? boobiethon.com, boobiethon.com, boobiethon.com, boobiethon.com.

The passion, the mission and the history are waiting for you to discover; online; today; right now at boobiethon.com. Don’t worry, all primary pages are work safe.

So get ready! The excitement starts October 1st!!! Go over and donate a photo for the cause or make a donation!

Let Me See Ya Grill!

My friend Marci is a dentist and she has recently opened up her own practice (so so proud of her) - so she asked if I would help her out with her website - which, of course I said yes, she has been one of my best friends since 3rd grade. So, because I helped her, she wants to bleach my teeth for me and make me some custom molded bleaching trays and then send me home with my trays and a lifetime supply of dentist-strength tooth bleach. WOOT! This is all good, but then, we were sitting on the beach a few weeks ago laying out and she looks over at me and says, “when you come in for the bleaching, will you let me fix that gap in your teeth?” - to which I’m all “what gap?” Apparently, I have a gap between my central incisor and my lateral incisor on the left side… according to my best buddy and self esteem crushing pal Marci. I guess that’s how she rolls at her new practice, she points out all your flaws, breaks you down and makes you feel like your mouth is total crap, then she offers to fix it for you and make you beautiful - she is quite the money making strategist, I tell you! Thank god I am getting it for free, I feel sorry for all the poor shitty-mouthed bastards that are not. So anyways, here is the before shot of ma grill (I’m channeling my inner Nelly, work with me):

Misty's Grill Before

When she is done, I will snap another photo and post it with an update! Stay tuned!

UPDATE:

Misty's Grill After

And I’m done.  Marci did an awesome job - she fixed the two smal gaps on the left side and it looks good.  Then she took a mold of my mouth and made me some custom whitening trays.  I did one treatment in her office and will have to do it at home for two more weeks - then only as needed.  She is also getting me a night guard so that the gaps don’t come back - they were so bad from grinding my teeth at night.  Thanks Marci!

A Camping We Will Go!

S'mores

You might remember last year, during the third weekend in September, Dena and I took the kids camping for a night. We have decided, like we do with everything else we do, to make it a tradition! So Saturday, we are packing up the tents and air mattresses and going camping for the night again. The weather is going to be perfect for it - 74° and mostly sunny! We went Monday night after work and drove around the camp site, circling on the map all of the sites that we liked, so that we could get a good one for Saturday. We also have a good amount of liquor left over from our big party to ensure that Dena and I do not remember all the bad stuff that happens Saturday night, making us not want to do it again next year, and also to ensure that our children sleep well through the night - the whole night! That’s the kind of unselfish thinking that sets Dena and I apart from the crappier moms in the world (not anyone that reads this site of course)!

Baby Horses

I forgot to tell you a funny story about last year’s camping trip. Dena’s daughter Cristin had taken the kids for a walk around the campground and Dena and I were sitting by ourselves by the campfire sipping on adult beverages and chit chatting when we heard what sounded like a baby horse. Neither of us said anything until we heard it again and I spoke up and said “What the hell? Did you hear that?” She confirmed that she heard it too. We kept hearing it over and over again and it was starting to kind of freak us out. At first we thought it was Cristin’s boyfriend screwing with us, but the way the leaves kept rustling, we knew it was not. At this point, we had already had several cocktails and were now sitting as close to each other as we possibly could. That’s when I said to Dena “What would you do if we looked across the fire and all of a sudden saw one of those little midget ponies standing there just staring at us and it was all What’s up hotties?

Midget Pony

That was when we lost it and could NOT stop laughing. Like midget ponies are chilling out all wild and shit at the First Landing National Park in Virginia Beach, VA. OMG, we got ourselves rolling over that. I am FAMOUS for my “What would you do if…” questions!  But all bullshittin aside… the noise did not stop and it was bugging the hell out of us! When I got back to work on Monday, I called like seven different Park Rangers trying to find out what the hell was making that noise. It was so embarrassing having to describe it each time - “Yeah, I am trying to find out if you know any species that might be found in First Landing National Park that make a sound like a little baby horsey?” - HAHAHA!!! Finally someone knew!!! It was an Eastern Screech Owl. Eureka! The mystery was solved! Apparently there are tons of them there and they like to hang out low to the ground, which is why we heard them so well. You can click below to hear what one sounds like. I hope we hear them again this weekend!

Ten on Tuesday - 09/16/08

Ten on Tuesday

I had this all ready to post yesterday, you know… on Tuesday, since I have not done one of these in a long time and forgot to post it.  So I am posting it today, on Wednesday… a day late!  Oh well, here is goes - 10 Simple Things that Make Me Happy:

01. My Kids
Nothing makes me happier then when my kids are having fun (when they are behaving and getting along that is)!

02. Hugs
Great big bear hugs.

03. Pedicures
I love them and treat myself to one every month.  I get my fingernails done every two weeks and my piggy toes every four.

04. The Beach
Everything about it makes me smile.  The sand, the smell of the salt in the air, the sound of the waves - EVERYTHING.

05. My Friends
I love my friends and I love spending time with them.  I am very lucky that I have been blessed with so many great friends.

06. Feeling Loved
It takes five seconds to make someone feel that they are loved, thought about, cared for, etc.  With a quick phone call, a small surprise, a text message, an email, a note.  When someone takes the time to show me I am loved, it makes me happy.

07. Good Coffee
It wakes you up, gets your day going and is delicious!

08. Cocktails w/ Coconut Rum
I love them - they make me giddy!

09. Drives to Nowhere
Getting in the car with no plans and just seeing where the road takes you for the day.

10. Someone Playing With My Hair
It is the most relaxing thing ever.  Seriously.

What are some simple things that make you happy?  Post them on your site and leave me a link or leave a few in the comments here!
