Tunes

Taking the baton from Chaos-Girl:

Total volume of music files on my computer:
1.58 GB

The last CD I bought was:
System of a Down: MEZMERIZE
Got the hubby to pick it up for me the day before yesterday!

Last acquired:
John Mayer
I borrowed it from a co-worker and was listening to it in the truck, when my disc changer decided to die - so now I guess it’s mine.  I can still play it, I just cannot get it out.

Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
1. That’s How Strong My Love Is by Otis Redding (wedding song)
2. Stellar by Incubus (special to me & hubby)
3. Misty Morning by Bob Marley (its something about the name)
4. Two Step by The Dave Matthews Band (fun times w/ my sister)
5. Rollerskates by Steel Pulse (fun times, period!)

Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
1. Nadine
2. Dena
3. Chatty
4. Not Your Typical Southern Belle
5. The Red Beet

Happy International Surfing Day!

Today is International Surfing Day!  How do I know this?  Because I was raised at the beach and everyone I have ever known surfs - and because I am a member of the Surfrider Organization.

Surfrider is a great organization dedicated to keeping our beaches clean, safe and FUN!  In honor of today, I thought I would share the email I received today from our local chapter here in Virginia Beach:

INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY!!

Ever needed a legitimate excuse to go surfing? Well, on Tuesday June 21, 2005, you finally have it: It?s International Surfing Day! This is the unofficial, official surfers’ holiday and gives us a chance to promote and celebrate the sport while bringing awareness to the state of our oceans and beaches.

Why Tuesday June 21st? It?s the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, thus giving you plenty of time to get down to the water.

Surfing Magazine and Billabong have partnered with the Surfrider Foundation and its many chapters to organize surf sessions and beach cleanups nationwide on this day.  Events will be held in Hawaii, California, the gulf coast, and the entire Eastern seaboard. The Virginia Beach Chapter is not planning an event at one specific beach, instead here?s all you gotta do:

Step 1) Go to your nearest beach
Step 2) Thoroughly immerse your toes in the sand and enjoy
Step 3) Catch a wave or three or four (if there are any)
Step 4) As you leave, pick up at least one piece (or three or four) of trash off the beach.

See! Can you think of a better way to spend a Tuesday? Neither can I.

Mahalo, and see ya in the water!

Time to Get Motivated!

Well, last night I broke down and joined Weight Watchers.  I am really unhappy at how long I have let myself go with losing the baby weight from Ashton.  I have tried doing it on my own, but lose motivation so quickly now that I have two kids.  I didn?t have this problem after Kaiden.  I have been paying for ?Curves? for a damn year now and am the same weight, if not more than when I started.  Of course their hours are really not conducive to a full-time working mother of two, which is supposed to be a target group for them?  Wake Up Curves!!!

I don?t need to be super thin (as was my goal prior to marriage and kids); my main goal here is to be able to run again.  I used to run 3 to 5 miles a day ? and I never felt better!  I want that feeling and motivation again, and I want my kids to be raised in a healthy household.  So we?ll give this a try!  Thank god my friend Dena is doing it with me!!!

Anyone have any experience with Weight Watchers?

Ass-Kissing

I cannot stand people that kiss ass.  If you are good at what you do, then there is no reason for it.

Co-Workers w/ Poor Personal Hygiene

Take a shower every day, use deodorant, brush your teeth, carry mints with you, etc. - it’s not that hard people.

Talkers

I am all for bullshitting, but I cannot stand people that stand at my desk and talk continuously about stupid crap all the time.  Can?t they tell that I am not even paying attention by the fact that I am not even looking at them, I am staring at my monitor?

Poor Planning

I don?t like looking like an asshole in front of clients because no-one wanted to take the time and make a game plan!

Indecisiveness

Discuss the plan, Decide on the plan, Stick to the Plan!

Backstabbing

DO NOT CROSS ME AT WORK!  I actually know what I am doing and am an asset to the company ? chances are, you are not!  So do not ever try to undermine me and ?copy? everyone in the office about it!  I will always win!

Micro-Managing

I know how to do my job, and I know when things are due; therefore, I do not need any reminders.  You do your job and tell me what is expected from the beginning.

Filing

Not much to this one ? I just HATE it!  This explains why my piles are always so high and I need to take it to the conference room table to sort through it - or I just get someone else to do it for me!

Fish Cookers

Seafood is not an appropriate food to microwave at work.

Nail Clipping

Clip your nails at home ? it grosses me out to listen to you doing it in your office, seriously!  It is sad that this even needs to be said!
