The Headband

Last week while the kids were in Florida on Spring Break with their Gammy, Pop Pop and Aunt Kelly, Kaiden texted me a photo of Ashton... wearing a headband.  SO HIDEOUS!  Ashton decided a while back that he was "growing out his hair like Chuck Norris" and since then has REFUSED to cut his hair. We have dealt with it.  We are not happy about it, but we have dealt with it.  The boy is a bit quirky.  Well, the headband was killing me.  I could not believe my parents were allowing him to walk around like that.  I knew exactly what he was doing, he was trying to be like Chuck Norris, except he did not look like Chuck Norris, as Dena pointed out, he looks like Loverboy...

Isn't that amazing? It's like they are twins. Since he has been home, he has not worn the headband, so I thought we were in the clear.  That is until yesterday when I went through his backpack and cleaned out his schoolwork.  Apparently he had worked very hard on a self-portrait to accompany an autobiography he had written.

He drew himself WEARING the stupid red headband.  I pulled it out, and just glared at him with it in my hand, to which he responded "WHAT? I look SOOO cool!" Uggghhh. He is going to be the death of me! He is so lucky I love him.

Mets Pig

Mets Pig

Ashton had a project at school, where he had to decorate a pig... but he could not just color it.  He had to use different materials, etc. and model it after something he likes.  He decided he wanted to make a Mets Baseball pig.  So he and Todd went to the craft store and got some supplies.  They glued dirt and grass on it to make a baseball field, use scrapbooking supplies to add baseball equipment and found some shoes to use out of one of my old Running Magazines.  Then they drew and colored the uniform... complete with real buttons.  I think they did a fantastic job!!!  I love the pig belly hanging out from the uniform.  So funny.

Ashton’s 9th Birthday Party

On Saturday. we celebrated Ashton's 9th birthday at his favorite pizza/arcade, Pungo Pizza.  We celebrated with family and friends, pizza, games, presents and cake.

Ashton spent most of his time playing the Mortal Kombat game... which is the reason that Pungo Pizza if his favorite place.  The kids went through $70 in quarters in about an hour.  It was crazy.   But Ashton LOVED IT.

Ashton requested a big chocolate chip cookie cake, so I that is exactly what I made him.  Then I made icing in different shades of green, so that I could decorate the cake like his favorite thing right now - Minecraft.  He was so funny, he must have thanked me like thirty times for "taking so much time with his cake" - it was awesome that he loved it.

He got a lot of great gifts, gift cards to GameStop and Best Buy, PS3 Games, DVD's, Nerf stuff, etc., but the best was when my brother started recycling the gift bags and putting objects on the table in them.  Ashton got all excited about a gift and pulled out a napkin dispenser.  It was pretty funny seeing the look on his face.  He knew right away that it was his Uncle Billy that did it.

It was a great birthday party.  We all had a good time and I was happy to see my little (big) boo-boo head having a good time!  Happy 9th Birthday to Ashton!!!
