Saturday’s Sundries-09/24/05

Last night my little girl grew up a little.  She made a decision on her own that she wanted to get her little, almost 4 year old ears pierced.  We took her to the mall, fed her some dinner and went to the ear piercing kiosk.  She picked her earrings and sat in the chair.  She did not flinch at all, nor did she shed a single tear.  She got up, said thank you and we were on our way!

My son has learned how to say our cat’s name very clearly.  He now spends his days following her around and yelling “MABLE” and then he proceeds to scold her and yell at her in baby talk.  He feels very dominant over her.

I have not bounced any checks in several weeks.  My family budgeting skills and my issues with Quicken Billpay are looking up!

I have done a horrible job as wife and mother this week and let us run out of everything, laundry detergent, toilet paper, paper towels and toothpaste.  My husband brushed his teeth with Listerine this morning people!  I guess I will be grocery shopping today.

My husband just took our son upstairs to cut his hair.  He told me he was putting his foot down and that he was over “trying to grow it out” and he was sick of his son looking like trash.  I was not aware that he looked like trash.  I cannot wait to see what he looks like when he comes downstairs.

Saturday’s Sundries-09/17/05

Twice this week I wore my underwear inside out.  Not on purpose, I just had a lot going on and did not pay attention when putting on my underwear.

This last week has been one of the hardest weeks of my life (for reasons that I do not totally need to go into) - but it was an emotionally trying week.

I was the only one on my street that made any preparations for Hurricane Ophelia (tied down deck furniture, brought in porch stuff, etc.).  Which means had we been really affected by the storm, their shit could have come flying in my direction damaging all my stuff.  I guess I am the only considerate one on the street.

There is a lot going on this weekend at the beach. There is a Blues Festival, a Shriners Parade and Oceana Naval Air Show.  We will be heading down to the Blues Fest tonight and stopping by the Air Show tomorrow, since Ashton is really into airplanes now.

For some reason, since the gas prices hiked up, I have not put more than $20 of gas in my truck at a time.  I have no idea why, for some reason it lessens the blow for me.

Saturday’s Sundries-09/10/05

This weekend was supposed to be a very lazy, inexpensive weekend, since we have been going, going, going all summer long.  But, someone gave us some really good tickets to the NASCAR race in Richmond, so now I will be going there today.  I don’t mind going when it is a night race, there just better be some good action.

Ashton developed an ear infection on Friday (for those of you who have been reading a while, this has been an ongoing problem).  While he was at school Friday morning, he bit three kids in ten minutes, which is totally out of character for him (you think he was a bit irritable from the ear?) - so after picking him up and taking him to the doctor, we found that his right ear was so swollen that the doctor could not see the condition of the tube.  So, we are BACK on antibiotics, both orally and through the ear.  Ask me how much my copay was for the two prescriptions we were given?  Oh you wanna know, really?  $80.00 freaking dollars!  I almost cried to the pharmacist, telling him that that was supposed to be my gas money for the week.  Pffft!

Remember I told you I was really going to start my diet this week?  Yeah that did not happen!  I will be sitting down tomorrow and making a game plan for myself.

Kaiden starts going back to ballet and tap class this morning, so on top of all the money spent on gas and medicine yesterday, we also had to buy new ballet and tap shoes.  If you are a friend or family member and your birthday is in September….you may not be getting a present this year….nothing personal, my family just needs to eat.

Even though I am a project manager for construction projects, I have also been assigned the task of company marketing, which includes the quarterly newsletter.  I have worked all week on that damn thing and finally finished it on Friday.  We do a print and HTML version each time.  You can view all of my hard work here.  The Fall 2005 issue is the one I just finished, but I have done all the ones listed.

Saturday’s Sundries-09/03/05

This week’s Sundries are occuring on Sunday.

Yesterday, when I noticed that my gas tank had 2 Miles to Empty, I had to search for a gas station that was open, while praying not to run out of gas.  Some of the gas stations around my house shut down.

Last night I tried my first “Napolean” dessert.  It is a layered puffed pastry with a thicker bavarian cream.  It was delicious!

This weekend is the Music Festival here down at the beach.  We walked down where bands/performers like Toto, Journey, Everclear, Zion Wave, Leanne Rimes and Morris Day and the Time were all playing at various stages down the boardwalk.  Morris Day still dances the exact same way and for some reason I have a strong urge to watch Purple Rain today.

Today I received my very first negative comment, to my Kanye West post.  I feel honored and in need of a jello shooter!  Party at my house!

For some reason, I cannot ever leave Target without Kaiden getting a new DVD..EVER!  She has more DVD’s than Disney himself!

I have cried every day this week over the tragedy in New Orleans.

I swear to god I am starting my diet this week…I am really not joking this time!!!

Saturday’s Sundries - 08/27/05

This week, thanks to Cherry over at Web Divas, my kids blog is up and running.  I have loads of stuff to enter into it, but it’s up!

Twice this week I have woken up because of a leg cramp.  One of those leg cramps that feels like your leg is twisted and you are now forced to twist your leg the opposite way to stop the cramping.  It hurt like hell!

My husband was supposed to get a bonus this week.  And even though I should not have, I spent money I did not have because I was banking on that bonus.  Now the bonus isn’t coming until next week.  My stomach hurts.

I have to be the photographer at an outdoor wedding today.  It is supposed to rain.  I hope the bride knows that the safety of my Nikon D70 is more important than her wedding photos.  I’m just saying…

My husband is either mad at me for spending the aforementioned money or mad about the bonus not coming, either way, he has been grumpy as hell!

I burned my stomach with the iron on Thursday.  I was ironing my shirt in my bra and I grazed my tummy with the iron.  For some reason, iron burns hurt way worse and for a lot longer than other types of burns.  This is the 6th time I have burnt myself with the iron.
